Killa kan ork 40k: «Ork terminator»
Model: 40k Ork Killa Kans
Company: Games workshop
Introduction:
Here we go again! this time Warhammer 40k, a classic miniature, a big metallic monster! The Killa kan, an Ork exoskeleton, born to kill.
Founded in the 2nd market, this partially primed miniature called me to be painted:
Alcohol (96º) and 24 hours later, cleaned:
This time I decided to practice an extreme weathering effect, based on the salt+ hair lacquer method (watch the Massive voodoo tutorial HERE). First of all, have to give a base simluating rust: orange, brown and grey, put together with a sponge.
Later, put hair lacquer and salt on the mini:
Now I apply a new base color, using brown and yellowish tones:
A brush and a toothpick just to put away the salt, producing rust chipping:
Painting a lot of details, giving more light from above and some typical freehands (ork style)
Basing time: I used some cork & plastic pieces, and a CD plastic box to make the composition:
I wanted the base was like a metallic box which could contain the robot, so I would apply rust and chipping effects on it, too:
Milliput for the iconic ork face and screws:
Some textures applied with the brush, using blue+black+white, and brown+orange. I was looking for a chromatic strong contrast between the yellow robot versus the blue base.
This was not a really difficult but quite tricky project. Not original ideas at all, but good stuff to learn some useful techniques, which I strongly recommend in order to achieve sci-fi projects.
Some paper tape was used to define lines on the base, alternating yellow and black:
And final results:
